Shiretown Homecoming Event to
Benefit Smart Starts for Students
Penquis Smart Starts for Students will be participating in the Dover-Foxcroft
Shiretown Homecoming Parade on August 7. Parade watchers wishing to contribute to this effort can bring donated school
supplies and monetary donations to the parade and deliver them to the Smart Starts for Students bus during
the parade or drop them off at the Penquis table located near Shiretown Pizza on
East Main Street.
There will also be lots of
delicious baked goods and food items for sale at this table, including a limited supply of Al’s Pizza “People’s Choice” award-winning whoopie
pies. 100% of proceeds of this event will benefit the Smart Starts for Students

We currently have 354 Students/176
Families registered so far. Which is an 40% Increase in Families Needing School Supplies
from 2009. (As of Thursday, July 29,
2010)

donate cash, school supplies even just a notebook or pencils can make a
BIG difference. Many hands can make the difference. These students
are our future workers and leaders don't you want to give the tools to be
success!

If children in your family attend school within any of the following areas of the greater Piscataquis Region: SAD #4, SAD #41, SAD #46, SAD #68, or UNION #60 AND your family needs help in providing back to school supplies for them, then please provide information about each of the school age children in the family. Registration does not necessarily guarantee that all families will receive school supplies, as all supplies for this project are donated.
You will be notified by telephone within the week of August 10th - August 14th whether your family will receive supplies. If your phone number changes, please notify the Dover-Foxcroft Penquis office prior to August 10th.
